I don't believe it will rust. However, that would all depend on your area as well. In Colorado, I can leave it as-is (as long as they are small chips) and I will feel no ill effect. However, A more humid climate(esp. on the coast) may have a higher possibility of rusting. Good luck and I hope you get some more feedback!
