I have OEM bonnet and Aesthetic Creations boot stripes, and I polished both using Griot's machine polish. Before that, the bonnet stripes were looking a bit mottled, and a few seconds with the PC really shined them right up. I DID NOTICE however that I had black deposits on my pad instantly, so I was definitely pulling off some material. I just applied LIGHT pressure and only did the buffing for a few seconds at a time.

Since you have different stripes, I'm not sure what will happen, but in my case anyway even using Porter Cable didn't mess them up. Are the stripes filled with spider webs or other things you'd prefer to eliminate? If ypu're doing it by hand, I'd just do a SMALL part with gentle pressure as a test and see what it looks like before doing something to the entire stripe.
