Close up pic tips

I wanted to take a close up pic of the Cooper S badge and the surrounding sheet metal as my wallpaper on my computer. So I cleaned up the area around the hatch and got out the camera. Then I realized as I was looking through the screen that I'm in the reflection

. Hmmm.....that's not gonna work. Any tips on how to get a shot with no reflection?

I'm thinking a tripod and setting the timer on the camera would be in order. Should I park in front of a wall or something?
