If anyone has Flik Ftd 's on their mini would you please post some pics? I found this shot on Edge Racing's site, but really want some more shots.

Wow. 50 something views and no one???

Ok, well, let the speculations begin then.

What size tire do you think that is? I'm thinking it looks short, like a 215/40/17

Do you think the car is lowered? Doesn't look it to me.

And here's why I need your help. I am seriously considering getting these, but I'm afraid that with my M7 springs and these being +45 offset, they will rub if I go with a 215/45/17. I'm not against using spacers up to 5mm.

Also, I'm looking at a wide tire.... Falken Azenis 615... muhhhahahaha

Whatcha u guys think?

To me, they look a lot like Flik Bullets. I'm running 17" Bullets with 215/40 X 17 on H-Sport springs with no rubbing.

YMMV, of course.

Thanks Kyriian!

In fact, I was waiting for Rota Subzeros in Royal Silver, but it seems like it may be months before they come back in stock, so I'm evaluating my other options.

I swear the Flik's are the same rims as Exel, and I've heard they arn't good rims...I would stay clear.

You get what you pay for.

Normally I'd agree with you. You usually get what you pay for, but thanks to our global economy and manufacturing in the Far East, sometimes, you can get more for less.

Take ROTA wheels for example. Thousands sold for dirt cheap. Yet have proved to be remarkably durable for the price. I'm not looking for wheels that will last forever. It's bad enough that we have to buy stainless exhaust systems that will last longer than the car!

Flik is on the same price point as Rota, and I suspect inline with similar quality characteristics.

Fliks are excellent wheels for autocross, lightweight and cheap. Not the most durable finishes, and not super dent resistant (but what do you expect from a lightweight cast wheel), but an excellent value. As jymontoya pointed out, economies of scale have made it so that nowadays, sometimes, you get more than you pay for, you've just got to have reasonable expectations. . .

Thanks for the pics!

What tire size and suspension setup are you running?

From the looks of it, it appears to be 215/45/17 Yokohoma EVS 100's & H-Sport Springs??? Are you running spacers?? It seems like your track is much wider than the red one's.

Good eye.. that's exactly what I'm running.. no spacers.. the yoko's are a wide tire, so that's probably what your seeing.

Sorry, I thought they were Ftd's but the ones I liked were Bullets. Here's a pic:

I've been running Fliks for autocross and track for quite some time... they're fine. Like any wheel, hit something big enough and you'll have issues.

Worth noting, the ftds are just replicas of Motegi Trak-Lites (the Trak-Lite is forged,14.3 lbs in 17x7, and as a consequence, a lot more expensive), so you can look for pics of minis that have those (there are a couple very minor differences, but they are pretty much the same wheel). If you're concerned about the quality/strength, go with the Motegis, they are awesome wheels (not Motegis in general, Motegis in general kinda suck, but the Trak-Lites are nice). The Motegis are a 42 mm offset though, not 45 like the ftds (so they stick out just a tiny bit more). Here's some pics of my wifes (she's got Trak-Lites, not the Fliks), she's running the original 205/45-17 Pirelli Euforias:

yes I get a little bit, but it's hardly noticable. I'll hear it rub if I hit a bump or something, but normal driving it doesn't rub. You can feel the inside of the wheel arches and feel where it's rubbed, but it really is not bad. that of course has to do with the H-sport Springs not the wheels.

Hey y'all
I've had ftds on for 2-3 months now. I stuck with the 205 tires so no rubbing at all with the m7 springs. I know they are cheap, but I might want to try something different next year. Here's a link to some pics:

Where does it rub? On the inside of the fenderwell or on the outside flair?

Also, how do you like your ride? Any comments about durability / longevity of those Flik FTD 's?

So what's the final word on the Flick FTDs? Thumbs up or down? I'll be over 20,000 on my stock runflats by December and don't wish to be driving around in bad weather on worn tires. From what I've gathered 20K to 25K is about all peoople get out of their Dunlop runflats. I've been looking at the Motegi Track-Lites for a while now, but for their tire bundled cost I can get a set of Flick FTDs, tires, and a good start toward a brake kit.

If I didn't want to go from 16" to 17" rims I really wouldn't have this big an issue. I'd just go ahead and pick up a new set of tires when the time came and just save up for the Motegi rims and be done with it. But then again I've always been a $/Value type of customer. I just want to be sure that any $ I spend on rims ends up being money well spent.

I also really liked the Flick Bullet rims. If they were all black I think I'd be all over them. Does anybody know of a rim that would be similar to the Bullet rims without the polished inner lip?
