I just checked the forum today....I've been kinda busy of late.
Basically, you have to remove each strut/spring assembly. You then use a spring compressor to relieve the tension on the spring, then disassemble the spring from the strut. You'll need some special tools, and it is a job for an experienced mechanic. Springs under tension have enough pent up energy to launch through a concrete wall.
In the disassembly of the front strut, the BMW TIS CD calls for a special socket wrench. I just tried looking at my MCS to see if it'd be practical to use a "homespun" alternative, but there's a cover that blocks out what I need to see. PM me if you want me to get more details together for you.
Short version: If you're experienced doing suspension work and you're willing to buy that goofy socket and you have good spring compressors, then you should be OK.
Len has H-Sport Springs and swaybars on his car. (I drove it with the springs only, and was impressed.) He'll be able to tell you how much improvement to expect.
