This was shot at a very large wind farm atop the Tug Hill plateau just outside of Lowville, NY. This plateau is at the eastern shore of Lake Ontario, and consequently gets a lot of wind traveling through. It is also one of the snowiest places in the country, due to the phenomenon known around the great lakes as lake-effect snow. (Where cold, dry air from Canada picks up moisture from the waters of Lake Ontario, then promptly dumps it in biblical quantities as soon as it hits the Tug Hill plateau). This phenomenon is also why Buffalo and Syracuse have such horrible reputations for massive amounts of snowfall in the winter time. Anyway, there are over 100 of those windmills at this farm, spread across many, many miles of farm land. It is quite an extraordinary site.

Located in a free economic zone, Incheon marches forward at a relentless, accelerating trade pace.

No real story behind the photo ;) Just wanted to shoot some glamour shots of the car.

The place is interesting. It's a parking garage that spans the freeway -- you can look down over the edge and see cars zooming underneath at 70 mph. It's a county government lot, so it's used for other things on the weekend. There's a flea market there on Saturday. And there's a street hockey rink on top. The day I was there, there were people practicing native South American folk dancing.

Summer is a great time for road tripping across our continent and , seeing as how Chicago is my wife's hometown, it's a natural destination for us. I had found this cool Conoco station on a previous Chitown excursion. The U-Drop Inn Cafe is a part of this building.

SoCal MINI Maniacs often has dyno days that are organized by club members. On this particular one, I noticed this classic Mini whose paint job closely resembled the Thunder Blue of the GP's. The photographer in me smiled when they parked next to this red cargo container.

Aspen Alley is located in the Sierra Madre Mountains and the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest. Aspen Alley is just one of the spectacular displays of quaking aspen in the area. The aspens grow upwards of 50 feet tall, with their branches at the top of the trees interlocking over the narrow dirt road to form a canopy. In early summer sunlight glimmers through the green leaves, but in September it shimmers with a golden-red glow as it filters through a sunshade formed by the golden leaves.
